FOLO aims to provide education, food and shelter to vulnerable children such as orphans, coastal children, street children, slum children and working children in the coastal villages and slums of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Folo also caters for the educational needs of these children. Apart from food and shelter, FOLO also looks into the health and career needs of these children.
Currently FOLO takes care of the educational needs of both girls and boys of coastal villages. However, there are plans to start a residential school in the near future. The residential school provides free basic literacy and vocational training. FOLO aims to motivate parents of working children by imparting vocational based training, eventually helping the children become entrepreneurs who will serve their communities. A free residential school, FOLO also puts primary school dropouts through a 1-year bridge curriculum before starting high school education in CBSE curriculum. FOLO wants to turn these children into rural entrepreneurs by imparting vocational training as well. FOLO takes its responsibility to its donors very seriously, and is run extremely transparently. All its accounts are published on the Internet and Annual Reports are sent to all donors.
FOLO's Educational Society for Young children was formed in June 2005 and registered under Cochin-Travancore Literary Scientific Charitable Societies Act of XII of 1955 on July (with Register No.T.3156/2006)
